200 scouts return to Hong Kong after 'difficult' night at Taiwan airport

Boy scouts, so the motto goes, should "Be Prepared". But a group from Hong Kong was anything but ready for a night on the floor of an airport - and even less so for the harsh reaction on social media.
About 200 scouts - both male and female, stranded by a typhoon at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport for almost 24 hours, finally touched down in Hong Kong late on Monday afternoon. Videos online showed parents speaking about their relief at having their children back in town while one scout said it had been a unique experience.
But social media was much less kind to the 202 members of the scout troop, questioning whether they had been ready for any eventuality.
"What happened to 'Be Prepared' [the Scouts' famous motto], poor dears, stranded in an air-conditioned building with fast food restaurants, oh the horror!"
"What happened to 'Be Prepared' [the Scouts' famous motto], poor dears, stranded in an air-conditioned building with fast food restaurants, oh the horror!" one Facebook poster said.
Others said the scouts, who had reportedly shared just four blankets between them and slept under cardboard, needed to complain less.
"The very reason you become a scout is to be resourceful and toughen up a little. Or is that no longer the case," one online commenter said.
"Where are the real men in Hong Kong?" another asked.
