Like most of the items on display, this show is small and exquisite. But as curator Fiona Wong is quick to point out in her introduction, this is more a study than an exhibition on Chinese ceramics because her own works are also included.

Eight other artists have contributed to Timeless Wonder, and not all of them are potters. They include Irene Lau, Aidan Wong, Iris Yau, Janet Wong, Winus Lam, Suzy Cheung, Cicy Ching and Ho Siu-kee, who is better known for his installations.

The show also features essays by five 'ceramic lovers' - Chan Tai-shing, Katty Law, Richard Wan, Lam Chi-kwong and Alex Lin - posted on the wall, although only Lin's is in English.

Curator Wong, who is also a lecturer at The Art School, poses the basic question: what is ceramic? She finds part of her answer in the history of the local pottery industry, which had mostly died out by the early 1980s.
