The vibe: as much a bar and cafe as a restaurant, the Mediterranean feel makes the venue family friendly by day and a relaxed place to drink by night. On Fridays a corner of the bar becomes possibly Hong Kong's smallest stage for live bands with as varied a repertoire as bluegrass, reggae, classical and ethnic Filipino music. The rugs, miniatures and a historic panorama of Istanbul are all redolent of Turkey.

The drinks: enjoy the Turkish coffee, served in dinky cups (HK$30); blackberry and other teas and infusions (HK$28); the Efes Pilsner (HK$36); and a personal favourite - the aniseed-based arak (HK$45 a glass). Draught beers include the powerful bitter T8 (HK$45 a pint), made in the microbrewery next door, while many a sunny afternoon has been whiled away over jugs of a fresh fruity sangria (HK$200). The wine list includes a refreshing colombard chardonnay at HK$165 a bottle and a Turkish Yakut Okuzgozu Kavaklidere (HK$170 a bottle), probably more a choice for the patriot.

The verdict: child-friendly mornings mean this is not a great place to park a hangover. In the afternoon and evening, it's a great place to create one. And they serve kebabs.
