THIS is everything you have ever wanted to know about wolves - and more. But no, you don't get Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer with it.

Wolf is a simulation game which encompasses environmental themes. Just about everything else has been 'simmed' - ants, theme parks, cities and even rainforests - so why not the canine lupus ? There are two ways to play the game: you can either take control of a wolf and see that it survives its 'missions', or tackle different scenarios provided.

You can choose either a young male wolf or a hurt and elderly female - not the strongest of protagonists, but then that's what games are made up of. There are three regions you can pick from: the Arctic, the Timberlands or the Plains, which provide 14 scenarios each.

You will be given missions to complete which usually consist of finding water, a missing cub, a mate, or hunting for food and avoiding hunters. And there will be plenty of hunters, especially on the plains, so it might be best to leave this scenario until you have your wolf well under control.

You can locate water, a mate or prey through a combination of listening, smelling and looking.

You control your wolf with a mouse in a VGA world of terrain appropriate to the geographic region, with the expected vegetation, weather and prey. It's not too difficult to control your wolf as all you have to do is to move your mouse further towards the corner to control his speed.
