SEX hotlines should be free for the first few seconds while customers are warned to wear a condom during sex, an AIDS worker warned yesterday.
'All sexy hotlines should have the first few seconds as a warning: 'The best sex is safe sex; wear a condom', ' said Cheung Che-kwok, chairman of the Committee for Education and Prevention of AIDS.
The plan would be raised at a committee meeting this month when members would be urged to visit brothels and talk to mamasans and prostitutes.
Mr Cheung said he had gathered many ideas for heightening awareness of AIDS on a visit to brothels in Thailand and Malaysia recently.
'In Hong Kong the subject is still taboo,' he said.
'In Thailand I really made an effort to go to the go-go bars.
'I talked to the mamasans and the girls and boys and made out that I was a customer.
