Lost Eden for PC-CD-ROMS THIS must surely be a game that was designed for Calvin (as in Calvin & Hobbes). Good dinosaurs and Man living and working together to build a safer world and defeat nasty Tyranns (Tyrannosaurs) - what a dream come true! The game is set in an alternative prehistoric past which, for want of a better name, we shall call the Lost Eden. The kingdom of Mashaar has been overrun by Moorkus Rex and his merry band of marauding Tyranns.
You play Prince Adam who comes of age just as you load your new game. Adam's grandfather, Priam, was a magnificent architect who built seven citadels around the world to protect the inhabitants against the Tyranns. But these citadels - barring the one at Mo - were destroyed by a cruel warlord called the Enslaver.
And, after the queen and princess are killed by Tyranns, the King prefers to play it safe and hide in his citadel. If that isn't enough, he also forbids Adam to leave the citadel walls, but like all adolescents, Adam disobeys him now and then for small adventures.
With the brashness of youth, Adam of course has a burning desire to save the world. To do that, he must accomplish his grandfather's dream and rebuild the citadels. With a little persuasion from an old ally, the King finally relents and allows him to leave Mo.
Adam has to travel over four continents which will bring him up close to 12 species of dinosaurs, not all of whom are good. Like most 'adventure' games, Adam can pick up things that he can use or is given them as gifts from those he helps along the way.
He is accompanied on his journey by a female dinosaur, an ugly warrior called Thugg and a royal adviser, Eloi. All three will give Adam helpful hints along the way and try to keep him out of the jaws of the Tyranns.
Lost Eden uses the common point-and-click interface. The cursor is represented by a rotating cube. If there are arrows on it, it means you can travel in that direction. If it pulses with an eye, it means you should take a closer look. A hand signifies you can pick up the object and place it in your inventory.
