Since the mid-1950s Gammon Construction has played a major role in the development of Hong Kong's infrastructure and the construction of major buildings.
Gammon, which is jointly owned by Kvaerner and Jardines, is the SAR's biggest construction company, directly employing 2,200 salaried staff and up to 5,000 workers.
Martin Hadaway, Gammon's group managing director, said the company was able to offer a wide range of expertise across the construction spectrum, beginning with site investigation, foundation work, civil engineering, building, finishing and fitting out.
'Over the years, Gammon's contribution to Hong Kong's development, through the building of roads, apartments, office buildings, hotels, utilities and container ports, has touched on the aspects of many people's lives,' Mr Hadaway said.
He said current civil engineering projects that best reflected the company's capabilities were the construction of sections of Route 3 Country Park.
The project, which consists of bridges, a three-lane carriageway and approach roads, is scheduled for completion next year to form another vital link between the SAR and the border.
