The lifestyle offered at the Repulse Bay Residential Complex appeals to a growing number of local residents.

 John Barnes, general manager of the commercial and residential complex, said a significant number of Hong Kong people had sold their property and moved there to take advantage of the luxurious lifestyle while at the same time keeping a close eye on the property market.

  The monthly rent covered all utility charges, management fees, undercover parking, government rates and club membership. To offer flexibility to people with busy schedules, two packages involving daily maid service which covered 16 hours were offered.

 'Tenants can literally arrive with just their suitcase and be sure that everything they are going to need is provided for them,' Mr Barnes said.

  The Repulse Bay, which is owned and managed by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Group, has been designed to reflect a modern and casual lifestyle.

 The 209 luxury apartments vary in size from 1,585 square feet to 5,868 sq ft, have sea views and are available for lease from one month to two years.

  Mr Barnes said the location and a range of leisure and recreational facilities was the ideal setting for discerning people who required comfort and security in a relaxed atmosphere.

    Rent for a two-bedroom 2,000-sq- ft duplex varied between $80,000 and $98,000 a month. The exclusive de Ricou tower had 68 individual apartments limited to four apartments per floor and varied in size from 2,020-2,243 sq ft.

 He said occupancy was currently at 95 per cent but the average length of stay had dropped in the last year from 22 months to 17 months and there had been a notable increase in the number of people staying for between two and three months.

   Every apartment comes with its own home management system and a wide range of user-friendly practical features. These include quality furnishings, laser player, VCR, satellite TV, cable TV, kitchen utensils, washing machine and tumble dryer. A daily cleaning and linen service is provided. A shuttle bus takes tenants to the Star Ferry in Central.

  Mr Barnes said The Repulse Bay promoted interaction between tenants by offering automatic membership to the Repulse Bay Club, which featured outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a golf driving range, sauna, jacuzzi, health and fitness centre, and other recreational activities.
