It was quite a 'Jackie Chan' week in Hollywood last week with the action star performing another whirlwind tour - with a double bill on Wednesday. Chan started the day hosting about 100 press members at a reception to promote Hong Kong (on behalf of the Hong Kong Tourist Association) and also do a little self-promotion for his newly published biography I Am Jackie Chan, written with American journalist Jeff Yang.
At night it was off to the gala premiere of Rush Hour at Mann's Chinese Theatre with guests such as Mariah Carey, Bruce Willis and George Clooney, followed by a round of parties. Despite that, the inexhaustible star managed to show up to present a prize at this year's MTV Music Video Awards.
Head-strong again In Hong Kong, journalists were chasing actress Yammie Lam Kit-ying, following magazine reports of her 'weird' behaviour at a hospital after a car accident the weekend before.
Lam's incoherent ramblings gave rise to unsubstantiated rumours she might be in the grips of a religious cult. But an encounter with the press last week saw her back in her usual sharp-tongued form. Perhaps it was just a touch of concussion.
Search is over Veteran actress Chan Po-chu has finally found her 'other half' for her new stage musical based on the lives of opera legends Pak Suet-sin and the late Yam Kim-fai. After months of searching, Chan - who will play Yam - finally picked retired Hong Kong Repertory Theatre actress, Patra Au Ka-man, to play Pak. Chan is taking a close interest in the casting not only because it is her big comeback, but because she was a disciple of Pak and Yam.
Lennon silenced Journalists waiting to interview Julian Lennon were disappointed when he came to town to announce his performance at this year's Heineken Music Horizons concert, on November 7 and 8.
