For the past several weeks, Hong Kong stock watchers and punters have noted the strong performances of shares in some small-capitalisation and second-tier companies involved in or related to the technology sector.

Analysts said many of these stocks were riding on the back of the market craze for the Internet sector, which was spurred by Pacific Century Group's back-door listing search among cyber-related companies.

Even after Pacific Century, which is building the cyberport, picked Tricom Holdings as the vehicle for a listing on Hong Kong's exchange, the sentiment has not been dampened for companies that have a technology or Internet bent.

In fact, some of them are not even related to the Internet area. They just have names that sound hi-tech.
