Lan Kwai Fong is nothing like the funky party zone it used to be, so it is refreshing to see something new in the area. California Coffee, which stood on the corner of Lan Kwai Fong and D'Aguilar Streets, has been reinvented as C bar!
Although it is a small venue, the two open sides give a feeling of space and make it a great people-watching spot. C bar! transforms through the day. It opens early to cater for the breakfast crowd and offers freshly brewed coffee and pastries. It serves a selection of lunch-time sandwiches as well as cakes for afternoon munchies.But it is in the evening that it really moves into its element.
C bar! has warm reds and browns and there is a floor-to-ceiling gold and red psychedelic 'lava lamp effect' painted glass panel behind the bar. Bar stools provide seating for 12, making it a great place to rendezvous with friends at the start of a big night. Watch out for the drinks. Someone had some fun coming up with the wacky cocktails - there is 'Sex with the Milkman', 'Sex with a Slut' and 'Sex with a Tai Tai'. And if they don't get you going, try a Jello Shot or that dreadfully named concoction, the Test Tube Baby. You wouldn't want to spend a whole night here, but it's not a bad place to kick off from.
