It's life as usual for singer Roman Tam (above) despite a recent cancer scare that had friends and fans worried. An upbeat Tam tried to put to rest rumours that he had developed liver cancer by gallivanting around town last weekend wining and dining with friends.

The 51-year-old singer was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital last week for an operation to remove an ulcer from his liver. However, the procedure was aborted after doctors decided the ulcer was too large to be surgically removed and recommended that he revert to medication to bring down the swelling.

The news of the aborted operation raised speculation that the ulcer was actually malignant and that he now had to undergo chemotherapy. 'I don't have cancer so I don't need chemotherapy,' Tam told reporters after an indulgent meal of Portuguese chicken rice at actor Alan Tang Kwong-wing's place on Saturday.

'It's just an ulcer so treat me like a normal, healthy person.' Tam has, however, been seeking out top doctors in the SAR to help find the best medication to fight his ulcer.
