Former Taiwanese star Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia has given birth to her second daughter at the age of 46. The actress, who is married to Esprit boss Michael Ying, underwent a Caesarean section last Saturday at the Hong Kong Sanatorium in Happy Valley and gave birth to a 3kg girl.
Having been advised to undergo a Caesarean section because of her age, Lin had picked out an auspicious time for the birth of her daughter, named Oi-ching, and it seems to have paid off. Already fortune-tellers around town are saying that the child will have no worries and that she will grow up lacking nothing.
But dad may have to fend off admirers as Oi-ching enters her teenage years, the soothsayers warn, because she is going to attract a lot of them.
Lin first achieved stardom with the Taiwanese melodrama Red Dust in the 1970s and then went through a revival as Hong Kong's top gender-bending actress in Tsui Hark's Swordsman II.
She quit acting after her marriage to Ying seven years ago. They have another daughter, Oi-lam, who is six.
