SOME PEOPLE say the friends you make during your school years are the best buddies you will ever have. Wilfred Kam Yiu-ming, president of the Diocesan School Old Boys' Association, would certainly agree.

'Every time we, the old boys, get together, we talk and share everything. We trust and know each other so well because we have the same background, having been raised in the same place,' Mr Kam says.

President of the alumni association of Diocesan Boys' School (DBS) for the third year, Mr Kam thinks the organisation is a good way to maintain links among graduates and keep them up-to-date on the latest news about the school.

'Former students from different generations are interested in the school's development.

'We are also interested in and concerned about how former schoolmates are doing,' the 41-year-old says, adding that he did not have any particular expectations when he first joined the association in 1989, the year he came back from the United Kingdom.

Mr Kam, who graduated from DBS in 1980, continued his tertiary studies at the University of London. He says the 134-year-old school has always had a close relationship with old boys, even when he was a student there.

'They [the old boys] gave me a very good impression of the school. I knew that students were still concerned about DBS even after they had left.'
