Obnoxious adverts

Shek O

No number of claims to the contrary or denials from public relations officers can disguise the fact that the 'entertainment programmes' displayed on buses are a disgrace.

They are an obnoxious intrusion and an affront to individual privacy, in a city where privacy can be pretty hard to come by.

When our bus companies replaced their rickety old double-deckers with cleaner, more comfortable and more environmentally-friendly buses, the whole town breathed a sigh of relief. Now though, passengers on both sides of the harbour are forced to endure the shrieking and clapping of game shows, Canto pop videos, rap, and, of course, endless adverts.

I, not the bus companies, should be entitled to decide when and how I wish to be entertained.

If these firms won't get rid of this shameful drivel once and for all, they might at least have the courtesy to follow the foresighted example of the Airport Express and kill the sound.
