THE MEGA-HIT Korean TV serial drama, Endless Love (A Tale of Autumn in Korea), has made 20-year-old actress Song Hye-kyo into a star in Asia. When it was released in Taiwan last year, it rocketed to number one in the TV drama ratings.
When broadcast in Hong Kong, it instantly became popular, and soon after, was the top-rated Korean TV drama in the SAR.
The drama made Song, who is blessed with a beautiful face and a charming character, a household name throughout Asia.
Since then, she has been inundated with offers to promote everything from fashion to cosmetics, mobile phones to drinks.
Recently she accepted an invitation to be the spokesperson for Korean fashion brand Clride, which has opened several outlets in Hong Kong.
Last June, when Song visited Taiwan, fans followed her everywhere. When she appeared in front of Hsimen subway station, there was chaos.
DJ Benny Lau Wai-hang, who has written a book about Korean stars, thinks Song is unique among Korean actresses.
