MOST BUSINESS cards are boring - with only information such as a company name, contact number and address. But designer Benny Au Tak-shing's card is fun.
It has the features of a credit card. Au's company logo and validity of the card are on one side, and information such as a 24-hour customer service hotline (his mobile number), card number and his signature on the other. It is definitely a collectible item for name card collectors.
But the 38-year-old top designer, who is always coming up with interesting and creative ideas, says: 'Being a designer was not my own decision.'
After completing secondary school, he and a schoolmate went to Jiuzhaigou, a popular tourist destination in Sichuan Province on the mainland, for a graduation vacation before throwing himself into the business world.
When he was still excited about getting a job and earning money, he got a call from his teacher's eldest brother telling him he had been enrolled to study design at Chingying Design College in Wan Chai.
'My brother worried about our studies and future and always worried that we - the younger ones - would go on the wrong track,' he says in his Causeway Bay office.
