HKIEd sweep the meet

At the annual HKPSCAA Athletics Meet, superb performances by Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) athletes won them the overall champions title.

Eleven local tertiary institutes participated in the meet, held at the Joint Schools Sport Centre, Kowloon Tong. Outplaying the rest, IEd had a total of 264.5 points.

Hong Kong University (235 points) settled for second place and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (208 points) came third. In the one-day athletics meeting, there were five athletes breaking records in three of the events.

In the women's 100m hurdle, Pang On-hei from CUHK and Tsang Ching from HKU erased the old record. Pang, clocked at 15.15sec, cleared Tsang by just .06sec, winning the title. She also won gold in the 200m.

Institute of Vocational Education's Yip Yau-sun leaped to a new record 14.47m in the men's triple jump.

Men's 1500m winner, IEd's Que Yin-tik, finished the 800m with a record-breaking 1:59.21.
