Entries open for junior tennis series

A five-month long tennis tournament, comprising four competitions and a year-end Grand Masters final, is now open to all young players.

The Hang Seng BIA Jr. Hong Kong Junior Tennis Series, organised by the Hong Kong Tennis Association (HKTA) and Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held in April, May, August and September, and the year-end competition in November.

There are five age groups for boys and girls: 18 and under, 16 and under, 14 and under, 12 and under, 10 and under.

HKTA president Kenneth Tsui said the tournament aimed to identify young talent, while at the same time cultivating a healthy lifestyle for youngsters.

All players who win matches can earn points for their Hong Kong junior ranking.

Each Grand Masters champion will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship, a one-year player's contract which covers a full year's supply of racquets, strings and tennis bags.
