With more than a decade of chart success behind them, American grunge band Pearl Jam has released a two-disc album, Lost Dogs, which features 31 never-before-released rarities and B-sides from the archives.
Together with the legendary Nirvana, the Seattle foursome brought alternative grunge rock to young Americans in the early 1990s. This is a chance for fans to hear completely fresh songs recorded throughout their career.
The first disc of the album features the band's signature grunge and old-school rock sound as well quivering electric guitars.
Although the general quality of the first disc is pretty good, few of the tracks are really outstanding except perhaps the first, All Night, as well as You and Whale Song.
The second disc has a slower feel to it. While some of numbers such as Footsteps, Wash, Strangest Tribe and Drifting have a strong blues influence, Last Kiss and Sweet Lew offer a few more surprises.
Overall, this album has plenty going for it, and vocalist Eddie Vedder contributes with his strong voice.
