Scale and rigour of the programme is comparable to that of a PhD

Students who enrol in the University of Bristol's Doctor of Education (EdD) programme, offered in association with the City University of Hong Kong's School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE), study a curriculum that has received a maximum British quality assurance score for its research and quality of teaching.

The University of Bristol is also widely recognised as one of the top universities in Britain.

'Our relationship with the University of Bristol in offering internationally recognised higher qualifications has been a long and harmonious one,' says Charles Wong, director of SCOPE.

In association with SCOPE, the University of Bristol also offers a two-year programme of part-time, face-to-face study in Hong Kong in education management leading to a British master's degree (MEd). The part-time EdD programme, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Hong Kong, is taught one-on-one and is comparable to a PhD in terms of scale and rigour.

'The EdD in HK is not a distance learning programme, it is a face-to-face doctoral programme taught by University of Bristol academic faculty who fly to Hong Kong - the same team who teach the EdD in Bristol,' Mr Wong says. Students will typically be in roles where they require a high level of research capability and an informed understanding of policy. They will also be involved in research to enhance practice.
