Popular radio talk-show host Raymond Wong Yuk-man will be back in town in September after having an operation on his vocal cords, but not before the Legco elections, his wife said yesterday.
Michelle Chiang Chin-man said 'some people' had said they would not like to see the outspoken commentator return before the polls.
She also said they had received threats in May, the month when Wong abruptly quit his job after a decade-long broadcasting career.
'As his wife, I have always wanted him to quit [the airwaves] for his safety,' Ms Chiang said, without revealing her husband's whereabouts.
'We had already received some threatening letters when he worked in this field before 1997.'
Ms Chiang said Wong's contract, which would have expired this year, had been renewed for two years before he left Hong Kong for the operation.
