Minutes passed in complete silence. It was Dennis who spoke first.
'So, will you go on a date with me?' he asked.
Kiki stared at the ground for another agonising moment. She didn't know what to do. She had just had an argument with her best friend and now a stranger was asking her out on a date. She felt some kind of guilt that she couldn't explain.
'I need to go to the toilet,' she said, standing up abruptly, leaving Dennis sitting under the tree by himself.
She ran as quickly as she could to the toilet. She found an empty cubicle and as soon as the door was locked she began to cry.
She wanted to go out with Dennis, but there was a wall in her heart that stopped her from saying yes.
