young people in Hong Kong have been urged to join the relief effort to help millions of tsunami victims in south Asia.
'I hope everyone will offer as much help as possible,' said Rano Lee Siu-pong, a Hong Kong tour guide who witnessed the disaster in Phuket.
Speaking to more than 200 young people in an address organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Mr Lee said the catastrophe had made him realise the importance of trusting others, and that someone's nationality was irrelevant when they were in need of help.
'I thank my clients for trusting me and following my instructions to run for the hill,' Mr Lee said. 'The people there just helped each other, no matter where they came from.'
He reminded young people to 'care about the people around us and to treasure what we have
now'. He said young people should appreciate what their parents had done for them.
In the 90-minute session, participants shared their feelings about the tragedy.
