Fantasy Tan

What is it?

Fantasy Tan was invented in 1997, and has been in use at the Feel Good Factor studio for 18 months. It contains dihydroxyacetone, a carbon sugar that reacts with amino acids on top of the skin.

Is it safe?

It's been approved by the US Federal Drug Administration. It's similar to fake tan in a bottle, but is applied with a hand-held airbrush spray bottle.

Why not do it yourself?

Anyone who's tried self-applied tans knows the problems: smears, orange circles on elbows and knees, and orange palms the next morning. Technician Vikki Lam ensures a smooth, all-over application. Her attention to detail is impressive. She even rubs oil on the fingernails to avoid colour gathering under the cuticles.
