Taiwanese band F.I.R. revealed they were seriously embarrassed about picking up a handful of honours at the Pepsi Music Chart Awards in Beijing and concerned that their success might have upset other nominees.

The trio trekked up to the stage six times for awards (seen as China's equivalent to the US Grammys), which included best pop music group.

'It was a bit embarrassing, actually - having to keep going up on stage for the awards,' said composer and pianist Ian Chen Chien-ning.

'We were so worried that other singers and musicians would be upset by that.'

The band - whose other members are vocalist Faye Chan Wen-ting and guitarist Real (Huang Han-chin) - stopped in Hong Kong for a few hours after the awards ceremony on Sunday, to announce their first gig, at the Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 5.
