A 90-minute session with Kristin White, who describes herself as a shaman (traditionally, a medicine man or woman) and uses what she says is intuitive (or psychic) healing to assess your physical and emotional state. In other words: a medical check-up by a psychic.

Sounds a bit flakey

It depends on how open you are to the non-physical, as it's called. White (below), who says she comes from a conventional background, studied to be a medical intuitive in the US to make sense of the things she says she can see around her and in the human body. The training started 12 years ago with an apprenticeship to a Russian doctor. She also studied pre-med (an 18-month course US colleges run before full medical tuition) at the Florida Atlantic University to help her 'understand what I could see'. White doesn't give a diagnosis. 'I translate from your body,' she says. 'If you imagine poor health as a swimming pool, modern medical tests look at where your head is above the water to just when it goes under. But a medical intuitive can see it before you step in the pool.'

White doesn't use tarot cards or ask for a potted history, which is surprising, given that many other psychics use the latter to garner information about clients. She looks at your torso while you're sitting down (fully clothed), makes notes and occasionally - which is disconcerting - looks elsewhere, where she says she can find images of what's wrong and what's needed. In my case, there was no physical contact.
