Karen Mok Man-wai (Karen Joy Morris) may be best known for playing quirky characters in movies such as Stephen Chow Sing-chi's The God of Cookery, but she also has a hard-earned reputation as a sexy stage performer.
It's been four years since she graced the stage in Hong Kong (during 2001's Very Karen Mok Live Tour), and she's returning to the Coliseum for her long-awaited The Extremely Karen Mok Show 2005.
Although Mok, 30, will sing her hits as well as numbers from her soon-to-be-released album, highlights of the shows will be guest appearances by fellow Canto-pop stars Andy Lau Tak-wah and Leo Ku Kui-kei.
A friend of local music producer Mark Lui Chung-tak, Mok got the opportunity to record her self-titled debut Cantonese album in 1993. Although the record offered an alternative to traditional Canto-pop, the era was dominated by the so-called Four Heavenly Kings of Canto-pop - Lau, Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Leon Lai Ming and Aaron Kwok Fu-shing - and the album didn't make much impact.
