Students end school year with gala celebration of English

Fukien Secondary School hosted a fun-filled gala evening called Celebrating English Our Way.

Over 900 students and parents attended the event earlier this month, which was conducted in English.

Collages of English activities from the school year were displayed alongside clippings from Words - a publication featuring contributions from students and teachers.

Guest-of-honour Michael Tien Puk-sun, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research, began the evening by telling the audience it was crucial for the younger generation to develop an English-rich environment.

The rest of the night was filled with drama and song as students performed plays including Shakespeare's Mid-summer Night's Dream and sang Puff the Magic Dragon and So long Farewell from The Sound of Music.
