Animation fans will recall last year's acclaimed French cartoon feature Belleville Rendez-vous, known in English as The Triplets of Belleville (seen below). Spotted in town this week was one of its associate producers, Regis Ghezelbash.
The producer/director has been in the animation film business for 28 years, with nine movies and 52 animated television series seen in Japan, the Philippines, Korea and Hong Kong to his credit.
He is in town planning a new project called Aniworld. 'I want to show the human emotion of animation. The movie will be about dreams, imagination and drawing - about the world of animation,' Ghezelbash says.
'Because animation has become one of the important industries in the [movie] world, I decided to make this film about it.'
Apparently, Hong Kong has an important role as Ghezelbash hopes to break into the mainland market. 'Aniworld will be about an animation war in Asia, and Hong Kong will be at the centre of it,' he says.
The friendly Frenchman also hinted that model Terri Holladay will be involved in Aniworld. How? He won't tell yet.
