The result is in. Local nu-metal band Qui Hong have won the Hong Kong finals of the New Zealand-based World Battle of the Bands.

On Wednesday at the Hard Rock Cafe four finalists each tried to win over 14 judges - including Elvin Wong Chi-chung, RTHK's Neil Chase, LMF's David Chan and three members of local pop group Alive.

As co-organiser Clare Tyrell said: 'It was a unanimous decision by the judges, which is quite rare. Qui Hong were heavy and political. They even had a song called July 1, but the music was also amazing and poetic. The singer at one point even performed with a megaphone.'

Now Qui Hong wait for the world finals to be held here on November 26.

It was also confirmed that this year's Rockit Festival will take place on November 12.
