Million bucks to fix the door

Never underestimate the influence of fung shui. From our snoops in the retail trade, we heard that a few days before Harvey Nichols' opening, Dickson Poon hired a fung shui master to check over his department store one last time. When told his front doors on Queen's Road weren't aligned properly, Mr Poon immediately got on to his contractor and a crew of 30 had to work two straight nights to get the golden entrance correct. The cost? Reportedly, a cool million bucks. But it was a case of mum's the word when we called to confirm with Nichols' PR staff.
