Dreams do come true

As first reported by CitySeen, Karen Mok Man-wai (below) will star in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent. She'll be the first Asian to star as Mimi, the HIV-positive exotic dancer/junkie. 'This is my definition of a dream come true,' said the 35-year-old singer. 'I always, always wanted to be in a Broadway musical. When I got this news, I just screamed over the phone for like five minutes.'

For its tenth anniversary, the rock musical will also tour several Asian countries with the Hong Kong-born artist. 'I particularly like Rent. It's cool and edgy, new and contemporary. It deals with a lot of social issues that everyone can relate to,' she said.

It will run from December 13 to 25 at the Lyric Theatre of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
