What is it?

A foot bath, massage and scrub at a new foot spa in Causeway Bay. The whole process takes about 90 minutes.

The spa mostly revolves around feet and nails, and has a separate area for foot spas. Large massage chairs are lined up and electric foot baths bubble away beneath them. Customers can adjust the massage chair as the jacuzzi soothes tired feet. The feet are bathed and dried and customers are moved to the reflexology area, with more sofa chairs with foot stools, magazines and televisions screens, but no sound. The reflexology takes 50 minutes and although I'm not a huge fan of the therapy, this was a little different.

The pressure wasn't too hard, as requested, but whereas the pain had been unbearable in the past, this time the (male) therapist knew when to press and when to lay off. He combined relaxing massage techniques with the more therapeutic pressure-point kneading popular in Chinese reflexology. The therapist also explained which organs were being treated as he applied pressure to different areas of the feet. For example, the side of the big toe relates to the stomach, and so on. A herbal scrub afterwards removes dead skin and also moisturises feet. The spa uses Nature Touch aromatherapy products from France. Also, a hot pillow around the neck, herbal tea and plenty of towels draped across the body make the experience cosy.
