Director Peter Chan Ho-sun's new film, Perhaps Love, had its big premiere on Tuesday night with most of the cast in attendance, including mainland star Zhou Xun (below), Korean Ji Jin-hee and Takeshi Kaneshiro.
The one big omission was singer Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, who was struck down with the flu.
In the film, the character's major dilemma is fame versus love. In real life though, Zhou says the decision is a no-brainer.
'I would never sacrifice love in real life,' says the actress. 'I enjoy playing different roles in movies, but if true love comes to me I definitely will choose it over other things.'
For director Chan, he believes the decision to make a Chinese musical about love is itself groundbreaking.
'Chinese people are less straightforward in expressing love. They don't say 'I love you' directly like westerners do,' he says. 'Singing and dancing helps strengthen the expression of love.'
