Natura Bisse facial

What is it?

A 90-minute facial using Spanish luxury brand Natura Bisse, new to Hong Kong but known elsewhere since the late 1970s.

What's good about it?

It starts with a glycolic peel (right), which is said to be the most effective and safest exfoliation treatment available. It contains high levels of glycolic acid and AHAs (alpha hydroxyl acids such as citric and lactic acid) and can penetrate 'deeper and quicker' than other exfoliation methods because of the 4.5 pH balance, which is close to that of the skin's natural pH. Natura Bisse's Diamond products contain so-called energy and DNA infusions. Marine DNA is said to go directly to the 'nucleus of ageing' to protect and repair. The energy infusion wakes dormant cells and provides atermia salina, 'the highest energy source', to make the cells more receptive.

What was it like?

The therapist warned me that the glycolic peel would tingle or sting, but this was minor and lasted only a few minutes. Next, she performed a simple cleansing, then massaged various Diamond products into my skin. This was followed by a mask - infused with Natura Bisse products - which covers your face, while the therapist massages your hands and arms. She didn't rub vigorously or target lymphatic drainage areas, but patted the product into my skin and, at times, used light finger massage. The face mask stays on for 10 minutes. Your hands are washed with hot towels, then moisturiser is applied to your face and hands.
