Butlers are more in demand than ever, according to Robert Watson of the Guild of Professional English Butlers. The seasoned valet has been at the Island Shangri-La Hotel refining the service techniques of staff. Having worked all over the world in hotels and as a personal butler, Watson started the guild to pass on this distinctly English tradition. However, even the best manservant makes a mistake, as Watson recalls. 'A hotel guest once asked for a bath of champagne for his honeymoon, so we filled it but forgot to tell the room attendant. She went to clean up and pulled the bathtub plug; $50,000 worth of champagne literally went down the tube.'
