On Saturday, champion chef Christophe Michalak presented a master class for dessert professionals and pastry makers. He was the leader of the French team that won last year's World Cup of Pastry against 19 other countries at the International Hotel Catering and Food Trade Exhibition. Michalak was appointed by Alain Ducasse in 2000 as executive pastry chef at Paris' Plaza Athenee Hotel. If you can't make it to France to taste his sweets, he did teach the InterContinental Hong Kong's staff to recreate some of his pastries, which are offered at the Lobby Lounge until the end of April.

Michalak said in last year's competition, the participants had 10 hours to make one dessert in chocolate, one ice sculpture, and one of fruit and sugar.
