Terre d'Hermes
What is it?
The latest Hermes fragrance for men. It has an earthy, back- to-nature appeal, described by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena (below) as a 'link between earth and sky'.
What does it smell like?
Initially, there's a slight fruity note. Later, it smells a little like the aroma of a camp fire. There are also hints of flowers (such as geranium) and spices. The woody smell comes from flint, an aldehyde with a sharp note. This scent could have a unisex appeal because its earthy notes are so subtle.
Who is the perfumer?
Ellena is the son of a perfumer and comes from Grasse in France, which has produced perfume for centuries. He created the fragrance First for Van Cleef & Arpels in 1976, Eau Parfumee for Bulgari and Declaration for Cartier. He began working for Hermes in 2002, when he created Un Jardin en Mediterranee.
