RTHK jock Steve James has never been shy about making musical parodies, but his latest indulgence - a cheeky bastardisation of Rogers and Hammerstein's Do Re Mi from The Sound of Music rejigged as a descriptive catalogue of the MTR lines station by station - has transcended Radio 3 and been picked up by bloggers and their websites internationally.

'I thought it up one day on the MTR when I was restless and didn't have a notebook,' recalls James (right). 'I think I'm the Hong Kong gweilo version of William Hung, but no auto-tuning [pitch controlling] was involved at all [in the recording]. I would consider approaching a record company to distribute it,' he jokes.

Actually, Weird Al Yankovic, the American pop parodist, is a more apt comparison. 'Well I certainly had his hair when I was younger.' You can hear James' MTR song online at www.rthk.org.hk/channel/radio3.
