Teachers, families and students of the Old Swinford Hospital boarding school in the UK's West Midlands gathered at the Cricket Club on Wednesday.
As well as reuniting with old friends, the long journey by school principal Melvyn Roffe was partly to recruit prospective students.
However, this grand educational institution isn't open to everyone. There are now just over 30 students from Hong Kong studying there - and it's a place where having a quick cheque book will not help with admittance.
'Entrants must hold an EU or UK passport,' Roffe says. 'Because it's a state boarding school, all the parents have to pay for is just boarding fees. And yes, I guess there are Harry Potter elements to the place.'
Quidditch, anyone?
