What is it?
Basically a facial, but for a chosen few, when new products within the range are launched.
What does it involve?
It's a simple facial, with a cleanse, tone and hydrating massage, to give women who are in the La Mer fan club the chance to try the products before they buy. The facial uses some of the company's new products and is held in the La Mer room at the Lane Crawford IFC. Products used include a $550 cleansing fluid, a mint-flavoured $400 lip balm, a $450 mist, a $1,000 eye balm and serums worth from $1,100 to $2,500. The 14-step process uses a different product in each step.
What was it like?
The room was a discreet, spacious and strangely quiet area, considering it's within the department store. The therapist was pedantic about cleansing my eyelashes, which left little time for the enjoyable stuff, such as a good massage around the eyes, but she did give me a light massage, and the peppermint lip balm softened my dry lips. The aim of the facial is to test the products, but I didn't notice my skin was any more hydrated or looked smoother the next day.
