Spanish artist Sabala (left) enjoys life as much as the characters in her paintings. Known internationally for her playful pictures framed with full-figured people living large (Elton John collects her work), the painter has a joyful personality and a hearty laugh. And she shared a lot of laughs this week around town. The Kee Club held a preview of her work for its members on Thursday night. The following evening, her new exhibition at the Spanish Contemporary Art gallery on Hollywood Road was officially opened by the Spanish consul-general. Then yesterday afternoon, Sabala hosted an art jam workshop at Song. It did not matter that her English is negligible; she was still having a ball. 'I love coming to Hong Kong,' the Barcelona native said. 'It's so go, go, go!' Her exhibition continues until June 17 at unit 8B, Time Centre, 53-55 Hollywood Road. Call 9261 6790 for an appointment.
