With a couple of cheeky features under his belt, Stephen Fung Tak-lun recently turned his eye to TV. The actor-turned-director has created a hit with Stephen's Diary, on TVB Jade on Sunday night. Featuring real-life stars often playing themselves, it's very similar in its dry humorous tone to series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office and The Larry Sanders Show. Only it's about a Hong Kong actor named Stephen and the wacky adventures he finds himself in.

'The sitcom is getting good ratings,' says Fung, at a store opening for Ecco shoes. 'TVB has already approached me about a second season but I won't think about it until next year. In this first season I see many little things I can improve on.'

However, he hasn't completely forsaken the film world. In fact, Fung wants to redo an old Hong Kong classic that was the inspiration for John Woo's A Better Tomorrow.

'I'm in the middle of discussing a remake of 1967's Story of A Discharged Prisoner [by Patrick Lung Kong]. I'll have to see how things go with this project.'
