The social set grabbed their passports and crossed to the mainland to attend Kowloon Shangri-La's 25th anniversary on Friday night. The hotel went all-out with a banquet and a bar in the ballroom's centre made entirely of ice. But it wasn't all self-congratulatory back-patting. A silent auction for various Shangri-La resort travel packages raised $186,000 for Care For Children. The party wrapped up early, allowing some folks to return to island side for a Financial Times event at the yacht club. For film producer Ankie Lau Heung-ping (right), it meant she could finish packing for her flight to the Shanghai Film Festival. It's an exciting time for her as she finalises her new film, an English-language musical called Dancing With Strangers, about a young man's search for his father. And Chow Yun-fat wants her to consider him for a role.
