The adulation is gone and the best days are in the past, but appearing at the CLSA conference this week was certainly a chance to revive some past glories. Enough about former US vice-president Al Gore, though. Duran Duran, pop idols of the 1980s, played at the investors' forum gala last night to about 1,200 guests. Since arriving on Monday, the band members have been enjoying the town.

They were at Baci's for dinner on Monday night, before crossing to Lux for drinks. Nick Rhodes, for one, enjoyed Lan Kwai Fong so much, he went back yesterday, joining Marisa Zeman for lunch at Tokio Joe. 'They're just wonderful guys,' she said. 'Especially Simon Le Bon [pictured], who is just incredibly witty and funny.'

The band also showed up at the Armani Bar on Tuesday to the delight of the fashionable clubbers there. However, there is no truth to the rumour that Al Gore was seen knocking back vodka shots and getting freaky at the Hei Hei.
