Hong Kong-based new designer Xenia Lubberstedt (right) is coming out on the fashion scene in an unusual way. The Ukraine-born, Swiss-trained stylist is combining a couture show with a dinner on Saturday night at FINDS. The unusual event underscores the fact that her Xenia O designs are not just another slave-to-the-season brand. 'It's not my aim to make seasonal collections,' Lubberstedt says. 'My concept is to make individual looks for different shapes and bodies. My clients are people not satisfied with mainstream trends. I believe in dressing according to your mood, your age. What I want to do is open an atelier, have people come in, say what they want and then work with them.' Since moving to Hong Kong for her husband's job, Xenia, from Odessa (hence, Xenia O), has designed primarily for a clientele of friends and associates, but that could change after the dinner, which came about after the FINDS manager attended one of her home fashion parties. 'He said I like this idea, let us do this event combining food and clothes, so their chef is preparing a special menu.' The event starts tomorrow at 7.30pm and costs $688. Call 2522 9318.
