It appears the MingCha tea shop on Star Street is no more. Chinese tea expert and MingCha founder Leo Kwan Chung-leung sent out a sullen e-mail to friends and customers this week expressing sorrow and remorse that its flagship tea cafe behind Three Pacific Place has had to close due to internal problems.
'Persistent unresolved conflicts between the directors have resulted in a deadlock situation which is not allowing me to keep the door open,' Kwan wrote. 'Just when the concept and quality of MingCha is getting across and appreciated ... the conflicts within the board are strangling the very brand that it has worked so hard to establish.'
CitySeen contacted Kwan to elaborate but he declined, saying he is 'not prepared to talk about the situation yet'. However, he noted the MingCha Tea Bar at the Great Food Hall down in Pacific Place is still open, if you need your fix of infused wuyi.
