What is it?
A 60-minute massage at the new, Mu-Lan Spa, adjoining hair studio II Salon in Central. The treatment is designed to relax you and help clear the lymphatic system to prevent blockages.

If you prefer harder pressure and the feeling that your muscles are getting well and truly kneaded, this is the massage to try. The therapist asks if the pressure is too hard or too soft until she gets it right, then she sets about targeting areas such as under the arms and the lower back. During my session, she started with a relaxing aromatherapy massage to help me unwind. According to www.positivehealth.com, manual lymphatic drainage was developed by Danish physiotherapist Emil Vodder in the 1930s. The site says it involves light, rhythmical massage 'that aids the body in collecting and moving lymphatic fluid, which plays a key role in delivering nutrients, antibodies and other immune constituents to the tissue cells of the body and removing debris such as toxins, cell waste and dead particles which are then cleansed by clusters of lymph nodes'.

Although it's separate from the hair and nail area, the spa isn't as quiet as others around town. The therapist was effective at getting out the knots, but I'm not sure she was targeting the lymph areas as much as other massages I've tried.
