Two old Shaw Brothers movies are about to get a modern makeover. Celestial Pictures, which now owns the rights to the Shaw library, will do remakes of two of their marital arts classics with two local action directors. Teddy Chen Tak-sum (left) (The Accidental Spy), will direct a new version of the 1974 kung-fu tale Flying Guillotine. Meanwhile, Kirk Wong Che-keung (The Big Hit) will take the helm of a new remake of Five Deadly Venoms, a 1978 Chang Cheh classic about a clan of deadly assassins. The film was an inspiration for the Kill Bill movies. There are rumours that Andy Lau Tak-wah will be featured in the cast, but Celestial said no cast members have been confirmed for either movie. They added these remakes will be in Putonghua - not in English as previously suggested.
